Today I spent the afternoon at Mom's taking with some very nice estate liquidators. One of them had her little shih tzu dog with her, which captivated Clementine. "Her name is Misty, do you want to pet her?" Clementine did want to, and said repeatedly in soft little voice, "Misty, dog. Misty, dog." And now she's drawn her picture. "MISTY. DOG." she told me.

For our first day of homeschool 2018 the kids all got new bags, which are identical but each one has a different zipper pull. Gil named his zombie villager farmer Jethro, after Jethro Tull, since he's studying the history of science. Gloria and Trixie got Wonder Woman and Supergirl. (They all got a bag of M&Ms too.)

tomorrow is the first day of homeschool

It’s tomorrow! I’m super excited.

Also lined up homeschool drama class for Gil Trix Glo. It starts in a month, in OKC. It’s once a week. They’ve wanted to do it for ages, and this year everything came together so we can. Previously we only had one car, which meant way too much driving to get Sean to work, back home, (an hour round trip) then kids to drama class, wait, home (an hour round trip) then go get Sean, back home (third hour round trip.) But now Sean drives my mom’s Nissan and I have the Sprinter full-time, giving us flexibility! They might miss a class when Malcolm is born but other than that we’re gold. Faith, Abby, and Gilbert did this class when we lived in the city and loved it.

#backtohomeschool2018 Day3: School supplies. We buy crayons and pencils by the pound, or, well, I wish we could! Also composition books, sketchbooks, glue, DUCT TAPE, and scissors. But all of those things are boring to photograph. These are Gilbert's first few reads this year for the History of Science. It's gonna be awesome.

#backtohomeschool2018 Day 2: Introduce yourself. I'm Phoebe, homeschooling mother of soon to be 10 kids, ranging in age from 18 to negative 13 weeks! We are relaxed homeschoolers and tend to follow a tidal homeschooling model, ebbing and flowing with our life's rhythms. This year we are high tide with the 10, 12, and 13 year olds, low tide with the rest.
