I need to gather together my birth supplies and otherwise prep. I’d homebirth anytime after 36 weeks, which is like 2 and a half weeks away! Before 36 weeks I’d birth in the hospital.
I’m gonna make a list to gather up:
- Chux pads
- Cord tie
- 2 painter’s dropcloths – much sturdier than the tablecloths I used last time.
- Bath towels from thrift store, can always use more
- Oooh! Almost forgot! Big disposable heating pads, the kind for back pain
- All my post-birth voodoo rememdies for afterpains: herb teas and tinctures, heating pad, and of course Tylenol.
- Clean sheets
- Blankets
And to do:
- Wash newborn dipes, covers and clothes
- Knit a wee hat for postbirth photo op 🙂
- Find my cloth postpartum pads… where did I put those…
- Give birth!
Gotta be more than that… hmm.
Wow, so soon already! I loved putting together all of my birth supplies, thinking about how to organize them, stacking everything neatly in a basket. Very therapeutic.
WOW, so close!!!
I’d really like to know what you have for afterpain voodoo remedies. Those about kill me every time. I’d love to have something available besides Tylenol with Codeine or Ibuprofen.
Good luck with the upcoming birth. I can’t believe it’s already here. It seems like yesterday you were announcing with that picture of the pregnancy test. 🙂
you have some of those things!
if youre interested, i could ask my old hbmw what the name of the chinese herb is she thinks is prudent for hemmorage. i need it, too, so i could get it and you can have it on hand JIC.
what sort of wee hat? we might need pre-birth pics too!
Also, it’s amazing how little you need for a UC :D. I got too much last time and I only spent about $30 :D.
Crazy unbirther…must be part of unschooling lol!
I have towels for you. I had saved them when I was pg with Abby and Matthew and now have saved too many. I also have a vinyl tablecloth, which is what we used for under.
After pains? I vote for kosher red wine. For bleeding, I’ve heard that a pepper tincture is great, although breast is best for that as well (although it *does* increase those afterpains….more wine!)
LOL
Let me know if you want those items. I can bring them when I bring the toy box. Which is when? LOL
Hi feebs,
I haven’t been reading as of late, but Keri J. let me know you were getting ready to have another wonderful birth. Congrats.
I have a new blog about birth http://www.birthrightmidwife.blogspot.com this is just for apprentice/doula thoughts.
Hi! By a strange twist/coincidence (or not?) of fate, I was connected to you via MDC…and through my IRL friend Rixa 🙂 I thought I’d let you know that you have a few chux pads and some yarrow/shepherd’s purse anti-hemorrhage tincture coming your way…along with some other gently-used goodies. It should arrive by Wednesday, the UPS guy said 🙂 Happy birthing and I look forward to reading your story.
I’m also interested in your witches brew for after pains. I’ve tried a few to no avail. Percocet is my drug of choice here…..
