Five months old tomorrow and weighing in at fifteen pounds ten ounces! The difference between his weekly gains before and after I quit added sugar and refined carbs are like night and day. The week before I quit he was at the 13th percentile and eight weeks later he's at the 33rd! I wonder how many breastfeeding pairs could keep going despite a failure to thrive diagnosis if people knew about how damaging thrush can be, even with very few symptoms. #soapbox #perryweighin

Bede missed Mass twice in the last few weeks because he overslept. The second time it happened he was very upset and talked about it for days. Today he woke up and came thundering down the stairs, still in pajamas. "Mom! What time is it? Where is Gil and Dad?" I reassured him that nobody left, he was fine, and he wouldn't be forgotten. He immediately started getting ready – here he is, putting on his shoes. He also has a cute and devoted relationship with Mary. It's taken years, but I'd say the boy's a Catholic.

The kids are studying US History this year, so I'm digging through my family tree. This is my great great grandfather, Richard Job Taylor. He was born in 1831, in Georgia. I don't know a lot about him. He went by Job, sometimes spelled Jobe. He fought in the Civil War, for Mississippi, had eight kids with one wife, Nancy Jane, and died in 1922. He also looks just like my father. #familytree
