doctor doctor gimme the news

We found a doctor and she’s great! She was respectful, kind, and competent. We will be returning. She is fine with our weird selective vaccination plans.

Trixie does indeed have asthma, as I feared. She was prescribed Singulair, which blocks leukotrienes. I am almost certain the Federation fought the leukotrienes along the edge of the Neutral Zone, so I’m really glad they won’t be in Trixie’s lungs any longer.

(Also daily fluticasone propionate (Flonase) and albuterol as needed.)

Gloria’s bizarre rash is healing and merited no treatment. The doctor said to bring her in if it comes back though.

And last but not least both girls were immunized today against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and polio.

I hope this brings the Saga of Medical Discontent to an end.

  1. So relieved for you.
I take singular and nasonex for allergies and have had good luck with both. I am so sorry to hear she has asthma, but glad you figured out what was wrong and started treating it. It is manageable, but not fun.

  2. Man…a good dr is hard to find, glad you found someone!
BTW…you never called me back and I still don't have your number. ahem. let me know if it's BO or what…

  3. Yes! I'm so glad the doctor thing worked out for you!
So, tell me about your weird selective vaccination plan. Most of my kids haven't been immunized at all, but I'm thinking about changing that. A little bit. Maybe. I'm interested to know what other like-minded folks are doing, and why they've chosen to do it that way.

  4. I'm so glad you found a doctor you're comfortable with and that you got a diagnosis for Trixie and can manage her asthma!

  5. @ABM It's going to be different for each kid, but they'll all get DTaP and inactivated polio. I'm really leery of the fetal cell vaccines because of ethical questions. I haven't decided what I'm doing. The ones from the WI-38 line bother me less than the ones from the MRC-5 line, because the MRC-5 lline comes from a healthy male child who was electively aborted, whereas the WI-38 line comes from a female child aborted because of severe heart defects thought incompatible with life. Both still aborted, though.
